4 x 16mm Projektors, 16mm color film, 2021Due to man-made climate change, the Dachstein glacier in Austria will melt away completely during our livetime.
The analogue film installation Deconstruction Dachstein illustrates human intervention in nature and its effects.
Four projections arranged in a rectangle break up the glacier and continually reassemble it. A new overall picture is constantly emerging, which is no longer able to reproduce the original condition.The structure of the installation resembles a cable car – the heart of winter tourism. In this construction, the film loops are suspended in space and transported through the mechanical projectors. Due to the different lengths of the four film loops, a new image is constantly being created in the composition – you never see the same picture.
The installation was premiered on June 20, 2021 – the night of the summer solstice – in the Dachstein cable car station.
Another presentation took place during the festival of La Strada from July 30 to August 6, 2022 (and then extended to September 5, 2022) at the Natural History Museum of the Universalmuseum Joanneum in Graz.
The installation was presented again as part of the Open House in the Creative Cluster during Vienna Art Week on November 19 and 20, 2022.

4 x 16mm Projektoren, 16mm Farbfilm, 2021Der Dachsteingletscher wird aufgrund des menschengemachten Klimawandels noch zu unseren Lebzeiten vollkommen abschmelzen.
Die analoge Filminstallation Deconstruction Dachstein veranschaulicht den Eingriff des Menschen in die Natur und ihre Auswirkungen.
Vier Projektionen, im Rechteck angeordnet brechen den Gletscher auf und setzen ihn laufend neu zusammen. Dabei zeigt sich kontinuierlich ein neues Gesamtbild, welches den Originalzustand nicht mehr herzustellen vermag.Der Aufbau der Installation gleicht einer Seilbahn – dem Herzstück des Wintertourismus. In dieser Konstruktion werden die Filmschleifen im Raum hängend durch die mechanischen Projektoren transportiert. Durch die unterschiedlichen Längen der vier Filmschleifen entsteht in der Zusammensetzung ständig eine neue Gesamtheit – man sieht nie das gleiche Bild.
