The eye of the Cyclops opens like a wound between the night of the cosmic and that of the infinitely small. Light, image of the awakening of human consciousness. Consciousness of the spectator as of the solitary main character. Light as the primitive and operative force of the film. "The Eye of the Cyclops", with a great mastery of the radical bases of filmmaking, evokes the cinema of shadow theater and the magic lantern, being punctuated by mise en abymes of the primitive characteristics of cinema: light, scrolling, mechanical and circular movement. The film follows the walk of a single character through woods, mountains, caverns and deserts. It could, if we want, represent a universal human archetype, and its walk, the unfolding of an existence. Each climb, dive, underground passage takes on a symbolic aura. An aura reinforced by the cold but intimate character of the cinematographic image, reminding us that our life is but a spark in the night.

L'œil du cyclope s'ouvre comme une blessure entre la nuit du cosmique et celle de l'infiniment petit. Lumière, image de l'éveil de la conscience humaine. Conscience du spectateur comme du solitaire personnage principal. La lumière comme force primitive et opérante du film. "L'oeil du Cyclope", avec une grande maîtrise des bases radicales de la fabrication d'un film, évoque le cinéma du théâtre d'ombres et de la lanterne magique, en étant ponctué de mises en abîmes des caractères primitifs du cinéma : lumière, défilement, mouvement mécanique et circulaire. Le film suit la marche d'un unique personnage à travers bois, montagnes, cavernes et déserts. Il pourrait, si on le veux bien, représenter un archétype humain universel, et sa marche, le déroulement d'une existence. Chaque escalade, plongée, passage souterrain prend une aura symbolique. Aura renforcée par le caractère froid mais intime de l'image cinématographique, nous rappelant que notre vie n'est qu'une étincelle dans la nuit.
