Analogfilmwerke e.V. is a member-based, artist-run film lab in Hamburg-Altona. We were founded in 2016 by a group of professors and students at the HFBK art academy in Hamburg who were driven by the desire to save the lab that had been in operation at HFBK but needed a new home. Since 2017 we call Hamburg-Altona home, where our members and workshop participants process, print and project their work. In addition to our own workshops in analog filmmaking, we have also offered workshops and carried out partnerships with institutions such as HfK Bremen, University of Applied Sciences Europe, HFBK Hamburg, Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg and International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. We hold an annual screening of members’ works in Hamburg, and have collaborated with LaborBerlin on two events.
Our resources include 16/35mm B&W machine processing, 16mm B&W contact printing, flatbed editing tables + editing equipment, hand-processing equipment, projectors, a diverse set of Super 8/16mm cameras, as well as a photographic darkroom.
