  • Labo d’images (previously known as Les Films de la Belle de Mai) formed more than a decade ago in February 1996 around an experimental and hand-made lab developing 16mm black and white film. Soon after it settled into the Friche Culturelle de La Belle de Mai, at the time a collective of directors, auteurs, and technicians that had organized naturally around their common desires: making films the old-fashioned way, rediscovering a direct contact with the material, manipulating the grain, contrast and light, playing with chemistry and finding an alchemy from the cinema of old. Many short films were thus made over the course of time.

The will and desire to relentlessly teach new filmmakers, share the unique experiences of creation, try new collaborations, and transit a know-how acquired little by little remains the key of the association.
