  • Dubh [d̪ˠuvˠ] means black or dark in Irish, as in Dubh Linn-Dublin, the black pool.

DUBH film lab at Fire Station Artists’ Studios in Dublin is a new space dedicated to photo-chemical moving image, providing artists and filmmakers with the facilities and technical knowledge to process their own analogue materials and offering training, equipment, and supplies at affordable rates.

Currently the only film lab in Ireland, DUBH allows artists to process their still (35mm and medium format) and moving images (standard 8, super 8, and 16mm), rent cameras and equipment, and receive training through a yearly programme of courses, masterclasses, and workshops. Training programme and bookings will begin from early 2026.

We acknowledge the exceptional precedent and generous contribution from the former Darkroom, which allowed us to gather the necessary equipment, as well as the continued support and advice from fellow filmlabs worldwide.
