ARTISANAL MANUFACTURE OF FUTURISTIC CINEMATOGRAPHIC OBJECTS
Film Base approaches film creation through several means of expression: films, performances, installations or a combination of all three.
Film Base works specifically with the photochemical medium (film) without forgetting to dialogue with digital video tools.
The works created can only be activated by us. They are each time original “pieces” of which there is no copy. The sound (soundtrack) is created live using different analogue tools. From one performance-projection to another, the sound differs.
Film Base is based at the Gran Lux (Saint-Etienne, www.granlux.org), a place that allows it to design studio shoots (with or without set construction). It is also where our various post-production tools are installed (manual wet lab, title bench, editing room, sound studio, projection equipment, etc.).
Film Base works hand in hand with the Association Coxa-Plana (Saint-Etienne) and Podolski archive fund (Brussels, www.podolski.be) who both co-produce some of its productions or assist it logistically.
Nostromo (www.nostromo.studio) programs and distributes his work, as well as other 16mm film experiments, in its small catalog.
