  • Founded in 1994, the Film Farm (Independent Imaging Retreat) is an artist-driven, intensive, week-long analogue filmmaking program and is a central part of Canada’s experimental film scene. The Film Farm has initiated and enhanced the work of local, national and international filmmakers and has expanded the traditions of experimental filmmaking in Canada. The workshop concentrates on hand-processing of 16mm film, most recently working extensively with flower developing processes.

In its more than 25 year history, more than 130 films have been made, including works from such filmmakers as Deirdre Logue, Jennifer Reeves, Chris Chong, Karel Doing, Tara Khalili, David Gatten, Louise Bourke, Mike Hoolboom, Caroline Monnet, Francisca Duran, Eve Heller, Barbara Sternberg, Clint Enns, Lisa Marr, John Greyson, The Odeimin Runners Club, Michele Pearson Clarke, and Sami van Ingen.
