This magic tool was developped for filmlabs.org by Georgy Bagdasarov from Labodoble.
Fed with two files generated by an off-line edit under DaVinci Resolve, it will produce both:
– the pull list in order to extract shots from negative rolls with the help of Keykodes;
– the cut list to reassemble these shots in the order of the edit.
Please check the DaVinci Resolve section from this page for a full tutorial on how to combine off-line video editing and the necessary negative cutting in the end to produce a film print.
The cut list generator is suited to work for both 16mm and 35mm format. As DPX_Metadata_Editor currently only works well with the Perfs count method, we recommend using this choice for 35mm. One can add extra frames for handling the shots that will be appear only on the pull list.
The cut list generator will warn you if an image is used more than once, or if you used opticals preventing the negative cutting.
After you have loaded both the Edit Index CSV and ALE files, click on ‘Process’ to make the files appear on screen. You can make several trials that will appear one under the other and when you are happy hit “Download’ to… download your final files that can be opened in Excel, OpenOffice etc.
